Professor Luisa Weiner is a Clinical Psychologist and Professor of Clinical Psychology at the University of Strasbourg. Since 2021, she has held the Chair of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy within the Department of Psychology, where she is involved in teaching, clinical training, and research on emotion dysregulation and DBT. Alongside her academic role, she is the co-leader of a DBT standard programme for adults with severe emotion dysregulation at the University Hospital of Strasbourg. Her clinical work and teaching are grounded in DBT, with a strong emphasis on comprehensive, high-fidelity implementation.
Luisa has substantial experience delivering and supporting DBT across clinical settings, and is particularly committed to ensuring that DBT is responsive to the needs of individuals whose experiences are often underserved within standard mental health models. This includes a focus on working in culturally sensitive ways and adapting DBT principles to support neurodivergent clients and people from minoritised backgrounds, while maintaining adherence to the core treatment model. Her research programme focuses on the mechanisms involved in emotion dysregulation in different clinical contexts and conditions (including autism), as well as on DBT applied to different conditions (especially autism).
In addition to her clinical and supervisory work, Luisa plays a leading role in the international DBT community as President of the French-speaking DBT Association (RF-TCD) and Clerk of the World DBT Association, contributing to the dissemination, governance, and ongoing development of DBT internationally.
