Advanced Dialectical Behaviour Therapy for Complex PTSD

About the Course

This 2-day case-based learning workshop is intended for experienced clinicians who have completed DBT-PTSD Part I and are seeking additional training and consultation in applying the skills and strategies of the DBT-PTSD model.
The format is as follows:

• Didactic Presentations: brief (25- to 30-minute) presentations that address participants questions about the DBT-PTSD protocol.
• Q&A and Additional Practice Exercises (time-permitting)
• Case-Based Learning/Case Presentation: Participants will present a case (i.e., client) and consultation question from their own practice. Group members will have an opportunity to discuss the case, ask clarifying questions, and provide suggestions on how the presenter can move forward with their client.

Every participant will be expected to submit a case for discussion. Through didactic learning and selected case presentations, the training will be geared toward the topics that participants are most challenged by.

The course will be limited to 60 attendees.

Through didactic learning and selected case presentations, this training will address topics presenting the greatest challenges for clinicians.

Learning Objectives

As a result of this training, participants will be able to:

• Implement the strategies and principles of DBT-PTSD in your clinical practice with greater adherence and competence.
• Gain experience in consultation and make evidence-based clinical decisions when working with clients.
• Prepare a case formulation following The Old and The New Path Model.
• Evaluate the use of the DBT-PTSD model within your own and others’ cases.

Prerequisites

This course is for experienced clinicians who have completed DBT-PTSD Part I and want additional training and consultation in applying the skills and strategies of the DBT-PTSD model.
