Course Description
Many DBT patients are currently living on in-patient units, in hostels, residential care, supported communities or detention establishments. These setting provide a 24 hour milieu where the staff have a regular opportunity to influence the clients’ progress. This 2 day course is for staff who are not trained to deliver DBT but wish to know more about the skills and how to enhance their use in the client’s day to day functioning. Delegates will learn;
- The process of acquisition, strengthening, and generalisation of skills
- The features of behavioural rehearsal in the current environment
- A selection of DBT skills and when they might be coached
- A specific coaching model and the steps to use with the client
Throughout this course the principles of dialectics, balancing change with acceptance, will be demonstrated.
Prerequisites
Prior knowledge of DBT is not required to join this course but it is advisable to have some previous training in DBT
